AIR MAIL SERVICES

lie; Y PTYSt )U'lli A FRJXJ A ROUTE. WELLINGTON, June 22. Tli.o lVstiiiiLstcr-Gtiiiieri.il announces that, commencing wit] i dispatches from Auckland on Juno JOth., and from Wel.ington ,on July loth., air mail correspondence will be accepted for the following countries served by the Egypt-South Africa section of the ling and-South Africa Air Mail Service; Kenya and Uganda Tanganyika Territory. Northern and Southern Rhodesia, Nvussnlaiul, Portuguese Ernst Africa, and the Union of South Africa. Recaiiso of the irregular mail service connexion between Australia and Africa., it is difficult to estimate what saving of time, if any. will result from file use of llie new air route for African correspondence. It. can definitely lie said, however, that a gain of two or illree days, generally, will result from tin- ,et vii e to Kenya, Uganda, .mil Tanganyika, while occasionally a, lew days will he gained from the nso of the route for correspondence from the other intermediate countries. So I't as can lie seen, the service will offer no advantage in the rase of correspondence for South Africa. To mark the inauguration of tlio new service, the Post Office is arranging for the special marking of all correspondence from Auckland and Wellington on the date above mentioned.
