UNWANTED BOOKS.

The British Museum is authorised by law to receive a copy of everything that is published. No difficulty was experienced until the modern deluge of printed matter fell, but for many year, 3 - the difficulty, of finding room for everything printed in Britain has become very acute. Now, however, something is to be done to relieve the pressure for Lord Snowden has introduced a Bill in the House of Lords to give the Museum authorities power to refuse- certain publications. These ■ specified in the Bill are hooks that are really no books. I'or example railway time tables, motor transport time-tnbiers, trade “literaturs,” specifications of inventions, and “publications wholly or mainly in the nature of blank forms of accounts,” are to be excluded, some because they are filed elsewhere. Religious texts and books dealing with elementary education will, under the proposed legislation, no longer he accepted by the Museum authorities.
