' INCREASE IN PRODUCTION

PALMERSTON N., June 21
The annual conference of the Nation-
al Dairy Association is being opened this afternoon and over three hundred delegates from all parts of the Dominion ana present. In ,addition to the annual report, the chairman, Mr A. Morton, in a statement, says “The quality of the butter has been well maintained, and there ha« also been an improvement in cheese.” Referringto manufacturing and selling costs, lie said that the t value of the industry in 1928-29 was £24,362,133; in 1929-30, £24,039,981; and in 1930-31, £18,788,730. The average payout per supplier ire the respective years had been £345, £325, and £235, while teh average, per pound of but-ter-fat had been 18.57 d, 16.24 d, and 11.58 d.
The number of suppliers was 57,823, fcO,C67, and 60,920 respectively, and the total pounds of butterfat. supplied to factories 257,996,539 and 288,462,650 and 296,187,279.
