FALSE PRETENCE.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 20.
Curious circumstances are involved ! in a charge of false pretences preferred I against Rovd Leslie Dixon, U salesman,, aged twenty-four, who appeared at the Magistrate’s Court this morning. He was '’charged with obtaining £lO from Eileen Jenningg-jby. falsely representing file had undertaken• iorfly from Germany to America!;— '.HTat' he had been guaranteed the use of a Junkers aeroplane, and that the full amount of the money necessary for the venture liad been deposited'ivith his secretary.
Dixon was remanded to appear- on June 24. The Chief Detective .said ■there might be further amounts involved. Bail was allowed.

ROTORUA, June 20.
There has been no further recurrence of thermal activity in Ohinemutu today, but until the danger is passed, the street will remain closed to traffic.
It will he necessary 'to rail off the vents and to re-form the roadway.
THEFT FROM SHIP
BOSUN FINED £5,
DUNEDIN, June 21
• Charged with the theft of six pair of ladies' stockings, pillaged from the /■steamer Renniera’s cargo, Arthur Stringer, a bosun on the vessel, was fined £5, in default one month.
