NO RECOGNITION
FOR THE PRIVY COUNCIL

LONDON, June 20
The ‘‘Daily Express” says: “The Irish Free State has officially intimated that, though it has been cited to appear, it wi.l not be represented before the Privy Council in,,Britain. when a petition is heard to-day. asking for leave for an appeal by former members of the Irish Constabulary against the decision of the Free State Supreme Court. This is Ireland’s first direct refusal to recognise tlie Privy Council,as the highest court, of the Empire.

The “Daily Telegraph’s” Dublin correspondent says: Mr McNeill, the Governor-General, from the State reception Of the Papal Legate, Cardinal Lauri, though it Jias been pointed out that the Eucharistic Congress is International, and non-political. One member of Mr de Valera’s party states that if Governor-General McNeill is invited, the majority of the de Valeraites will leave the buildings..
