POULTRY FANCIERS
ANNUAL SHOW AT HOKITIKA. TO BE HELD JULY 29th AND 30th. With a high reputation extending far beyond the district, the Hckitika Poultry, Pigeon, Canary and Cat Club is ardently striving to make its annual Show an even’ greater success than in former years. For successful it has been, as the results, and openly expressed recommendations in the past by those in the position to judge, have amply demonstrated. The Show this year will Jie held in the Soldiers’ Hall on Friday and Saturday, July 29th. and 30th, and arrangements are well in hand toward the realisation of the Club and, in particular, its committee—to excel previous performances, and, given the support ot the public, there is every chance ot this being achieved.
! The schedule is now available, and a perusal of its contents' gives one an idea of the huge amount of work entailed in organising this Show, as well as a lair knowledge of the multitudinous classes provided to cater for the great variety of , exhibits, which is the Club’a, initial aim. It can, therefore, be imagined the wide interest and atj traction that such a Show must impart | to the general public, especially if each ■ class receives good support in the way of entries, I The Club is fortunate in the support it has received from donors of trophies and e*sh prizes, and their generosity is . appreciated by the Club, while four 1 challenge cups are also included in the prize list. | The Club has been allotted the South | Island Association’s West Coast Cham- • pionships as follows: —Utility. Rhode Island Red, Utility Minorca, Utility Leghorn (ether than white),-and black Rosecomb Bantams, and the high type of exhibit in these section, will prove one of the attractions to the Show.
Attention has also been given to the juvenile fancier, and children’s classes have been included in, the schedule, as also are the arts and crafts, which is a popular feature with the ladies. The services of Mr J. J. Breeze (Hokitika) and Mr A. F. HounseU (Christchurch) have bjeen secured, as judges of the poultry and pigeon sections respectively, and their experience and knowledge will certainly impart confidence and satisfaction to intending exhibitors.
Special train arrangements for the benefit and convenience cf the. public and exhibitors have been made. Copies of the schedule may be had upon application to the secretary (Mr D. Breeze). Entries close at Hokitika on Saturday, July 16th, and an exhortation is made to.one and all for sympathy and support to aid the Club in making its annual venture' all outstanding) un * qualiged success. •
