ANNUAL MEETING SEVERAL REMITS CARRIED. ..June 17. The annuai ' of the'Piovircial Executive of The West Coast Branch of the Nep'gZealand Farmers’ Union wag herd, in ’County Chambers" yesterday, Mr D. Shannahan presiding over a good .attendance.

EL\ecutive Committee (re-elected), Messrs H. E. Bodgkinson, P. O'Regan, J. L. McKay, A. Muir, D. Jellie, W. Clayton, A. Daizeil, W. Norton, T. O’Neil, and vD. Shannahan; Advisory Committee (reelected), Messrs W. Crayton, J. Mulcare, A. Dalzell, H. Carter, the President .and the Vice-President; Delegate to X.Z. Conference, Mr A.'Bradley; Delegate to Chamber of . Commerce, Mr W, Norton, and falling him,-' Mr D. ( Shannahan ; Secretary, Mr E. W. A, From Kokatahi-Koiterangi ■ Branch : g ,(1) Re Small Farm .Scheme.—That jf, while, favouring?-alsy ; ■tihat has as its object the bringing into production of suitable areas, this branch definitely state that it is the duty of the Government through its Lands Department to give the. lead by making available for immediate seitlement all suitable Crown Lends. This Branch believes That several smt-ib'e lots could be had by resuming many c f the Crown Land Runs in Westland. The remit was carried subject to ihe following alteration suggested by the Chairman: “That land suitable for subdivision” be inserted after Crown?* Land. (2) That the Lands Department bo asked 'to recognise the Local Branch of the Fanners) Union in an advisory capacity where doubt exists as to the suitability of ' any area for closer .settlement. .... (3) That the Unemployment Board be asked t. 6 establish camps in all fanning districts where it can be shown That sufficient developmental work of a productive nature is available to warrant such a course. (4) That the Provincial Executive be asked to support the local branch f and the settlers concerned, in tlheir forts to have the school at Kokatahi enlarged, The .present building being too small for the number of children attending.
