SPECIAL MEETING HELD. A 'special meeting of the Hokitika Borough Council was held last evening to consider the estimates of expenditure, .and the rating proposals for the current year. After discussion, the estimates ,and the rating proposals which are .on the same basis as last year, were adopted,
The Committee reported that arrangements had been made with the Kanie-ri Electric Ltd. to have the street tights burning from sunset to sunrise', for a period of twelve months, from the 13th ins:. Tile Committee’s action was con. firmed, the members considering that the extended hours of lighting were necessary.
Tenders for the purchase of municipal freehold sections No. 1391 and 1392 were opened, and the tender of Air A. E. 'Stevens, of £3O, was accepted.
