TIMBER ORDERS
FOR MILLS IN SOUTHLAND (By Telegraph — l‘er Breu.Asiociation) INVERCARGILL, June 17. It is understood that the negotiations between Southland sawmillers and a big English motor body building firm for the supply of approximately nine million feet tif silver beech have advanced a further stage. A definite order for a sample lot of the timber has been placed by tho English firm, and the consignment is expected to leave Southland next week. Not only in England, but in Australia. are there bright prospects for a remunerative trade in silver beech. Commonwealth firms the now heeinitig to place orders in la r go quantities,, and negotiations have been, re-opened with manufacturers whose dears 'have been closed for the pnslf eighteen months. ...
