A later message from Algiers, isays that the oil tanker “British Sovereign” picked up. the “S.Q.S.” • ■ and raced to the liner’s assistance She found the Ferndale fast on a rock Everyone on board is safe. 1 1 LONDON, Jnue 17. The Ferndale stranded during a dense fog, and all the forward . holds are submerged. It is feared tliat.:they will be a total loss, but there .are-good prospects of salvaging all- the: : after holds. All hands are safe, and the majority will be despatched from Algiers, whence the salvage company is expediting the discharge of cargo... SALVAGE, STEAMERS LEAVE.
