CHILEAN REVOLT

Chilean army officers attempted to seize Colonel Marmduke Grove, a leading member of the. new Socialist Government, on Thursday night, in an outburst of fighting around the Government Palace. The raid was inspired by a desire to maintain the National Socialism divested of Communists.
Officers said that Colonel Grove eluded the officers, while rebellious troops marched towards the city to asault the Palace.,
The rattle of machine guns and firing jjjjjs heard in the distance, while aeroplanes, attacking the forces, flew overhead. . . v There was a lull in the disorders near midnight.
SOCIALIST JUNTA OVERTHROWN. DRAMATIC COUNTER REVOLT. ' SANTIAGO, (Chili) June 17. The Socialist Junta, which, went into power less than a fortnight ago, wa3 overthrown in a brief, dramatic, counter revolt to-day. The counter-revolutionaries comprised army, navy, and air force groups, apparently supporters of Davilln, who charged that the Junta had gone over to Communist)!... They turned the Government oyer,to tho new Junta, composed of Dayi la, Senater Alhe'to C«bero, a member of the farmer group. President Montevps (Radical), and a. former Deputy,. Malosco Cardenas.
