BANKRUPT EXPLAINS FAILURE. CHRISTCHURCH, June 14. Although it was admitted that the two proprietary lines which he carried were good, Herbert Edward Reid, >a bankrupt manufacturer, who met lvis creditors before the Official Assignee, Mr J. 11. Robinson, to-day, was through lack of capita], unable to advertise them, and that fact, he stated, had a good deal to do with his failure. ‘Tt is utterly impossible to do anything on the retail market unless One can create a demand, and that can only he done hv advertising” said bankrupt, who went on to explain that the sales of his products had fallen away on account of the economic condition and lack of funds therewith to advertise.
