GERMAN BUDGET

BALANCE BY RETRENCHMENT. EFFORT TO lAIPROVE TRADE. (United Press Association.—By Elect™ Telegraph.—Copyright.) BERLIN, June 14.

The German Government's decree, cabled on .June 13th., enables the balancing of the 1932 German Budget at four hundred and ten millions sterling, including sixty-eight millions of State unemployment insurance expenditure. The Government explains that the decree is necessary to save the unemployment insurance system from collapse. The economies had been imposed .because the experiences of the past month had shown that any increase in taxation merely leads to a drop in the revenue. Therefore they had no intention of imposing any further taxation in the future. The Government intends co-operating with other Powers in an effort to reach a solution of the world’s economic crisis, and also to make an endeavour to revive the home markets by establishing small holdings and introducing a voluntary labour service.
