The man was hurled half-way down a flight of stairs leading to th© basement of the shop and was taken to hospital unconscious. He is suffering from severe head injuries, .The car bad been rented. The driver was not aboard when it ran away.
TOBACCO STOLEN FROM CLUB. CHRISTCHURCH, June 13. A burglar who visited the Pioneer Sports Club’s rooms, in the city, made a clean sweep of the club’s stocks of cigarettes, cigars and tobacco. The club’s loss is estimated at £29. There is nothing to show how the -man gained an entrance Ip.the building or how he left, it after making his haul.
