(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, June 13. .Samuel Crow, aged 65, a retired accountant, was found dead in the laundry room at tile Leviathan Hotel where he had resided for ten years. The upper part of the body was covered with a blanket, and a' gas tube had been turned on. Ernest Logan Alains, aged 36, married, an unemployed carpenter, was found dead at his residence at Mornington niith a bullet in his head, and- a rifle beside him.

TROTTING SMASH. J. BRYCE INJURED. ASHBURTON, June 11. A bad smash occurred in the Ashburton County Handicap to-day. Passing the stand for the tfime, Ayrmont Chimes, 6 driven by J. Bryce, Cyone (F. Holmes), Gi’ahd'ight (R. J. Humphreys), and John Noble (W. J. ißyan), all 1 fell. Holmes, Ryan and Humphreys escaped injury. Bryce was carried To the ambulance, but on examination he was not found to be seriously hurt.
