CHICAGO, June 11.: Ralph Metcalf, of Marquette University, a negro runner, has set three new world’s reco"ds, doing’ the hundred metres in 10.2 seconds, the two hundred and twenty metre’s in -20.5 seconds, and the two hundred metres in 20.2 seconds, and be equalled the hundred yards record of 9.5 seconds, in the National Collegiate trials. He probably will (represent the United States at the Olympic Games.

Lovelock, broke the thirty-seven year old world’s record Tor three-quarters of a mile at the Civil Servants Sports at Stamford Bridge. He did the distance in 3min. 2 l-ssec, after a brilliant run in which he forged ahead on the back straight. The track was measured, and it was found that Lovelock had run .nearly three feet over th'*ee-quarters of a mile. The Frenchman, J- Lapdoumergue, has done the three-quarter mile distance in 3min 0 3-ssec, but the International Federation has not yet passed the record. ' , ■ Lovelock started from scratch, and finished fourth.
