RESULTS OF YESTERDAY’S"‘PLAY

Fine, weather was experienced yesterday when the Westland, ladies’ hockey competition )va-s advanced a further stage, Mawhera secured a win over Rover 8., ‘ maintaining its premier position, while Rover A. defeated Kokatahi on the latter’s ground.

ROVER A. 4 v. KOKATAHI 1

Rover A. travelled to Kokatahi and were success,tul in beating Kokatahi. -More than half the play was in Rover’s favour although KokatalVi had a fair share of attack. Splendid defence by tlie Kokatahi goalie, S. Sherriff, saved them from a much heavier defeat, while the, full backs -did their share.

: H. Keliy was the star of the team, her attack and defence being of great value. I). Marshall played well in the forward line. Kokatahi’s forwards im--1 proved in the second spell while Rovers have improved since their last match. I R. Ward, M. Ward and D. Stopforth centred nicely for 0. Stapleton to shoot 3 goals, while D. Stopforth also scored. Mrs Eager, R. Stapleton and Estelle Randall were useful in the , half line. R. Cron scored Kokatalii’s goal from ' a scramble in the circle. Rovers were later entertained to tea at Airs Woolhouse’s residence. 0 Stapleton thank- ' ed the Kokatahi team for an enjoyable | afternoon, while Mr Dimmick returned ' thanks on Kokatahi’s behalf.

Mr Paterson was an efficient referee
