CLOSING OF TRAINING COLLEGE.
CAUSING THE DEEPEST CONCERN

DUNEDIN, June 8.
A meeting was held last night to discuss the Government’s decision to close the Dunedin Training College. It was unanimously decided to telegraph to the Minister of Education informing him that the decision to close the Dunedin Training College was causing the deepest- concern and Chat the people of Otago and Southland would leave no stone unturned to save tho college.
It was further decided that the Minister be asked to forward immediately tbc figures on which Cabinet’s decision to close the college was based, as the Otago Education Board’s figures showed a still greater saving, also whether h e coul c ] possibly visit Dunedin within the next few days personally to discuss* tho matter.
It was stated that the Education Board scheme for carrying on the four colleges showed i saving of several thousand pounds over that claimed by the Department.
