RELIEF WORKS BILL

AMERICAN MEASURE PASSED

WASHINGTON, June 7.

The United States House of Representatives to-day passed the Garner Relief Bill, .as cabled on May 19th, by iZI6 votes to 182, after defeating a substitute measure that was approved by President Hoover. The Garner Bill provides for a vote.of funds for public construction by way r* relief works. The measure rejected eliminated those funds.

The fate of the Garner Bill in the 'Senate is doubtful. If flnai'ly adopted, the Bilj! will in ah’ probability be vetoed by Mr Hoover. The United States Senate .struck from the Economy Bill provisions that were intended to save forty-eight mi 1 - lion dollars by curtailing .the allowances to the war veterans.
