Lt was charged before the Chief Justin (Sir Michael .Myers) in the Suprem Court that on or about November 11. , ith intent to defraud, lie did ntteiin i to obtain- from the United liisuram-' Co., Ltd., the sum of 11125 by fal pretences, namely when making a claim on a Hudson scven-scater car destroyed h.v lire on October 23, 1931, he cli■ < falsely represent that the car was purchased by Alex Ralston Wyllie for £169 whereas the car was purchased lor a sum not exceeding £110; and, further, that he did falsely represent to the company that Alex Ralston Wyll" paid tho sum of £SO, whereas the cash value of the car was not more than £IOO. Hyslop wag further charged that, on or about July 3, 1931, with intent to defraud, lie obtained £llO from the Southern Union General Insurance Co., of Australasia. Ltd., by falsely representing that Alex Palstni Wyllie had paid £IOO cash deposit on tho purchase of a- Studebaker eui, whereas accused knew the sum had not been paid.

Accused pleaded not guilty. Lengthy evidence dealing with the fi-a n a'-tioii'-- alleged in the charge* followed the Crown Prosecutor’s openin r. The hearing was adjourned.
