NELSON, June 8

. Air Atmore, M.P., addressed a crowded meeting at the Theatre Royal last evening, dealing mainly with the economic situation and monetary system.

Referring to the world depression as artificial poverty, Mr Atmore said that the people’s purchasing power should equal the value of the aggregate production. He urged a State note issue, with adequate safeguards ae direct utilisation of the people’s credit. He condemned in general the recent legislation of the Government, and said that he had been asked to speak at various parts of New Zealand. Mr AtinOfe aniioilnced that he.
