BASKET BALL
“B” GRADE COMPETITION, The first round of the “B” grade West Coast Primary School competition was held at the Grey Main school on Saturday, when 13 teams competed. The various schools represented were: Grey Alain (2), Hokitika (2), Blackball (2), Runanga (2), Convent, R» Rn, Taylorv'iilo, Cobden and Paroa. This was the first- time the entries had reached such .a total, and it was pleasing to see the schools displaying such keen interest. Owing to the large number ot teams participating, it was Amnd impossible to complete the first round on the one day. Instead of having three rounds in tins grade, there wiil be only two, the first round Being completed, a,ml th> mscom! commenced in a month's time. Some teams will note they have j'b'V od more games than other teams, hut they 'have yet to have their “byo. ’ The thanks of all visiting, teaemv's and children are due- to Miss Cornwall, and the children of Grey Alain school for their courtesy iu supplying the children with tea, and the teachers with morning and afternoon tea and. lunch. The teachers, who ref'cieed the various matches in an able manner were: Alisses Dale, Wild, Booth, Pedder, Rya.ll and Alnlpas, while Aliases T. Robertson and D. Position of Various Teams
During the day a short meeting o! Hie West Const Primary Schools’ Basketball Association was held, there being present: Misses Peddee (President), Cornwall, Booth, Dale, Wild, Ryall). Walslie and Malpass (secretary). Miss Cornwall moved and Miss Wilde seconded that all teams not on field at appointed time without a legitimate excuse, forfeit as many game.-, ns they miss.—-Carried. / Tt was further agreed that all those who will act as referees are to send thei" names to the secretary two days before a tournament. It was decided to bold the second round of the A. grade competition at Hokitika on Saturday. June 18. Convent, Cobden and Bunanga teams will travel by afternoon train to Hokitika.
