BIG RUGBY GAME

SEVERAL MISCONCEPTIONS

FEW CHANGES POSSIBLE

WELLINGTON, June 2,

Several mil-conceptions have arisen concerning the inter-island Rugby match, to be played at Christchurch on Saturday. The emergency back in .the South Island team is G. D. Inmes (Canterbury), not Geddes (Southland), as previously reported. There appears to be a general impression that the EipJayson included in the North Island team is the Auckland player of that name. This was the opinion held an Auckland, but the Auckland Rugby Union has been adviced that the player chosen is A. N. Finlayson, from Nortih Auckland. He is a cousin of A. and I. Finlayson, who have already played for New Zealand. /

The inclusion of H. R. Pollock in the North Island team, instead of Farmer, means that all of Wellington s seven nominees will be required at Christchurch on Saturday. Although Farmer is to be regarded as very unfortunate, it is probable that Pollock’s inclusion will give much-needed improvement to the North Triand rearguard. There is a doubt about the fitness of s o m e of the other players selected. In a recent match in Wanganui BullockDouglas, one of tike wing three-quarters for the North Island team, injured a knee, and this prevented him from playing in a..representative'trial match last Saturday. It was, reported that the injuryiffniay keep'him off the field, of play for-more than a week oi so. N. Bail, the other North Island w-ng three-quarter, was also out of act*on ],art Saturday, but he. expects to be fit for the big game at Christchurch. M would b e bad Jack for him to miss if '■« game, as an injury deprived h’ru of the opportunity of representing the North Island last year. Steer'e (Hawkes Bay) has played but .little footba’l this season owing to an illness. However, h e gave a good account of him-elf in a trial representative match in Hawkel Bay last Saturday.
