WELLINGTON, May 31

The net customs - revenue collected at Wellington during May totalled £147,654, against. £132,729 for the corresponding month, last year. The total includes £13,008 from the extra two pence per gallon petrol duty. This was not included in last year’s total. The duty collected on petrol in May was £39,024 at sixpence per gallon, making ’a total of £420,033, including the twopenny levy. The tyre tax for May was £1,535, and the beer excise duty £5,638.

DUNEDIN, May 31

The net customs duty collected at Dunedin during the month ended toC 1 yy totalled £42,894 10s 6d, as compand with £22,037 14s 8d for May of liA-'t year. The beer duty was £20,132 3V. a- 8 ftgalost £18,206 14s 8d; petrol tax’ brought in £12,320 12s (£12,803 18s-(3d), and tyre tax £1,033 8s 6d (£9SS Is). The births registered f° r Dunedin and district during the month ended to day totalled 135 which is eighteen more' than were registered during May of last year. The deaths totalled 76, compared with 62 and the marriages numbered 62, as against 55.
