RARE CATS

international show. SOME VALUABLE SPECIMENS. PARIS, May 28. Many rare, and beautiful specimens of the feline race, not to mention several undistinguished but amiable tabbies, met together at the Salle Wagram, Paris, where an international cat show opened on April 1. From the sacred animal brought from Burma to the tame and expert ratters shown by a big Paris store, every sort and description of cat was to be seen. In the centre of the ball, lords of their kind, were the savage Saharan, the tiger cat of Brazil, mid three tittle brown cats, of nondescript appearance reputed to he of extraordinary rarity. They arrived from Vienna by aeroplane anil are of Abyssinian origin. Crowded in a vast genii-circle' above this nucleus of aristocracy were hundreds of Persians, Siamese, Angoras, and their commoner brethren. A group of magnificent Persians, some of which are valued at £l5O to £2OO, attracted much, attention. The congress is to he made the occasion for conducting a propaganda in favour of the cat as man’s best defence against the plague of rats. It is hoped eventually to provide a eat for every - building in Paris. |
