There was a further outbreak of Moslc-m and Hindu rioting hi Bombay this morning, and three are dead and thirty injured. The trouble shows signs of spreading to the scenes ot the recent outbreak. Armed po.ice are patrolling the -streets, while armoured cars and troops are in readiness. At the end of April, 32,500 Congntes pri-oners were in Indian gaefs, while the total convictions since the present disobedience campaign began number 44,7C0, including those fined without i nprison ment, and prisoners subsequently released.
The new ordinance promulgated today confers special powers cm:-, the Bengal Government for the suppression of the terrorist movement.
The recent outbreaks and hold-ups by terrorist gunmen emphasise the need for further stern measures to cope with the organisation which k becoming a menace to towns and villages,
