According to Mr F. More O’For rail, in a recent issue of London “Sporting Life,” South Africa is the home of the largest owner of racehorses in .the world. His name is Henry Nourse. The owner of three stud farms. Mr Noutsc possessed in March: 17 stallions, 260 mares, 110 yearling, 28 bores at grass, and 304 racehorses on lease—a grand total of 719 thoroughbreds. Mr Noursie races few, if any, horses himself, hut he leases his horses in all parts of the Union. It is a common thing for him to pick up a morning paper and see that horses which he owns have won nine or ten races the previous day in various parts of the cuntry.
