HORSE POPULAR
FURTHER REPORTS FROM U.S.A
NEW YORK, May 26
Evidence is forthcoming in several countries that the horse is coming info its own again. In Santiago, Chile, the .rationing of petrol has assisted the Government’s campaign on behalf of animal traction, and provincial authorities have been instructed to remove all legislation against horse-drawn vehicles.
In fact, more definite steps have been taken, and local authorities have, been advised to do their utmost to push motor transport off the istreets and replace it by the horse or the humble ox or mulle. As a result of this policy, declared by the Government to be merely temporary, the streets are gradually being filled with hor?e-drawn vehicles, and there has arisen a demand for the establishment of a national industry engaged in the designing and construction of light and strong vehicles for animal traction.
