THREE YEARS’ FOR THEFT

DUNEDIN, May 27.
Justice Kennedy sentenced Henry Butcher, aged 60, ex-town clerk of Mosgiel Borough to three years’ imprisonment lor theft of £1,832 sterling, extending over a period of six years. The Crown Prosecutor mentioned that accused had stolen £44 sterling contributions to the Hawke’s Bay earthquake fund. The offences were aggravated by forging a receipt which made detection difficult. /> ;•
