NEW PLYMOUTH, May 26
After denying the evidence of the detective and constable, and making the allegation tluj£ ho was .suddenly rushed by the two office ns during a friendly conversation, Christian De liink, aged 01, was found guilty in the Supreme Court on four charges that he resisted lawful arrest by discharging a double,barrelled shot gun at Detective Meiklejohn and Constable Tocker, whom he assaulted. The police said they visited De Rink’s house at Tikorangi to ai rest him on a warrant in connection with civil affairs. De Rink met them with a gun, threatening to slioub them if they came near.” After a long argument, in which the police attempted to reason with De Rink, the detective edged closer, seized an opportunity and sprang upon De Rink. In the ■struggle, the gun was discharged without injuring anyone. De Rink was remanded for sentence till to-morrow.
