N.S.W. NOMINATIONS
OVER 300 CANDIDATES.

SYDNEY, May 25. Nominations cf candidates hr the State General Elections ilosccl ta-dav, with three cfaiulidates returned unopposed, namely, one representing tile tinted Australia. Party and two Country Party candidates, including the Country Party Leader. Mr M. Bruxnor (Deputy-Premier and Minister for Transport). For tin’s remaining 87 contested seats there are 362 aspirants. Tho distribution of candidates is as follows: —
United Australia Baity ... 67 Country Party 34 Lang Supporters 76 Federal Labour 20
Seven of the remaining number of candidates are either Independents or Communists.
There are also a number of unattached candidates who are supporting the Government’s policy. Mr J. T. Lang lias four opponents, while the Premier, Mr B. S. B. Stevens, has only one—a Lang Plan candidate.
QUESTION FOR ELECTIONS
SYDNEY, .May 26. The “Herald,” in a leader says : There is only one question for every elector at the elections, that is whether he or slip prefers sane responsible government, or anarchy and .str'fe, leading to civil war. The weight of this state’s influence in the Federation is such that New South Wales can make all the difference between the salvation of foundering of Australia. By co-op-erating with the Foilera! and other State Government's, the people of New South Walt's can he assured that this Commonwealth will be started on the road to prosperity.
BRITISH LABOUR REQUEST
LONDON, May 26
Mr Maxton and four of the other Independent Labour Members of the Houf-e of Commons have tabled a motion demanding the recall of the Governor of the State of New South Wales, Sir Philip Game, on the ground that his action in deposing the popui'ariyelected Government of New South Wales has been contrary to the public interest, and is an affront to the democracy of Britain and of Australia.
COMMISSIONS OF -ENQUIRY. SYDNEY, May 26
It was announced to-day that four Royal ‘Commissions were being appointed forthwith to inquire into matters during th e Lang Government’s regime, covering the following subjects: Whether the recent assault on Mr J.. Garden ,by the New Guardsmen war; the outcome of a conspiracy; whetherthere was any corruption in the granting of the tin hare licenses; whether* there was any corruption in restoring permits' for the use of fruit machines in hotel bars; and whether the Government were justified in appointing Mr 0. J. Goode as Chief Transport Commissioner in view of the fact that he was discharged from the Railway Department after an investigation of certain charge/' preferred against him.
