COM. FINDLAY ARRIVES

Having left Wigram Aerodrome this morning about 10.30 o’clock Com-

mander Findlay, officer in charge, accompanied by Mr Yeadon, photo- ’ grapher to the Air Force, came over the Southern Alps and at just after neon was seen high up in the air ; circling down to tne aeroplane landing Aground where he landed at 12.10 p.m. They had a good run over and were in wireless communication all the way with Wellington. On arrival Capt. Findlay and Mr Yea to n after an inspection of the ground were motored to Hokitika and a few minutes later were met at the Railway Hotel by the County Chairman (Mr J. A. Murdoch), Messrs Ward, Cagney (Commissioner of Crown Lands), Dr. Teichelniann and others, where Mr Murdoch in extending a welcome to the, district expressed his pleasure at being able to welcome such a distinguished airman, hoping this would lie only one of many visits.

Cant. Findlay stated that the landing round showed a considerable improvement to its appeairence on a previous visit, and showed considerable work had been done.

A short discussion took place in reference to further improvements. Messrs Murdoch and Ward stating that a further draft of men would b© engaged thereon in further work.

Cant. Findlav stated ho wasj leaving on the return journey about 2 p.m.
