NEW ZEALAND TEAM
fSp Telegraph—Per Pres* Association
WELLINGTON, May 24
Arrangements in connection witli the sending of the team to represent the Dominion at the Olympic Gameas Los Angeles, this year, wer t further advanced, at a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Olympic Games and British Empire Sports Association, last night. Mr H. Amos, (chairman) presided. The secretary reported that he had received no definite information that anyone would be going to the Games, with the exception of three nominated by the N.Z.A.A.A. H e was informed that an effort was being made to send C. K. Evans, the middle distance runner.
A lengthy discussion arose over t!>< question of chaperoning -Miss Kench, the omy woman member of the team. The opinion was expre-sed that the Council should accept no responsibility
for chaperoning. Mr J. W. Heenan said it appeared that the N.Z.A.A.A. was not inclined to accept any responsibility. If a woman were to go, tbe National Association should, at least, say whether or not she should be sent without a chaperone. After further discussion, ‘Mr Heenan moved that the arrangements made for chaperoning .Miss Kench b ( . communicated to the N.Z.A.A.A., and that body be asked if it were prepared to concur. It was decided that Bid required to be deposited for each member of tlw team must be in the hands of the Oourcil by the end of the present month.
