YOUNG MAN KILLED
RESULT OF COLLISION

CHRISTCHURCH, May 25
James Ivan Holmes, nineteen-year-jkl !-;on of Constable Holmes, of Kaiaioi, was killed early this morning ■then his motor-cycle and a meat delivery van collided at the intersection of Colombo Street and Bealey Avenue. Holmes suffered a fracture of the skull and terrible face injuries. Death vas instantaneous.
The van was owned and driven by Mr George Nevell, 233 Mail South Road, Upper Riccarton, who had his ■.on with him. The accident happened it 7.40 a.in J The van was travelling north along Colombo Street, and Holmes was driving his motor-cycle \e.st along the south side of Bealey Avenue.
The motor-cycle was erum; led by lie collision, but the van did not suffer. Holmes, who was the only son of Constable Holmes, was an apprentice iiotor-body builder employed by Messrs Cooper and Price. An inquest will be held.
