CHRISTCHURCH, May 26
A new election of .tlie Tramway Union executive will ’bp' neccssaify as the result- of the policy of retrenchment adopted b.v the Tramway Board. Already six' representatives of the traffic division on the executive, ineluding the'••president, Mr J. Mntheson, have received notice terminating’tlieir engagement',- while two further members are also reported to he affected. In all 49 men have been dismissed. The Union secretary says that seniority in service lias apparently not been into account. “Wo iciVimot fathom how the Board hasp made its selection,” ho says.
