JUDGE REBUKED IN TURN. COMMENT IN THE PRESS. LONDON, May 25. Regarding the incident, “The Time-" has an editorial referring to what it terms Mr Justice iMrCardn" s “Pontifical retaliation.” “The Times” says: “We hope that this undignified dispute will go no further, as /it is quite inconsistent with the traditions of, tile Bench. Frank, fearless statements of judicial opinion .should be .encouraged, but they need not be incompatible with tact and good manners. Happily, such incidents as yesterday’s are rare. Though they will not lesson .public confidence in tPe judicial system, they, must inevitably tend to .lessen the public respect for those members of the judiciary who provoke lihem.”/
