NOXIOUS WEED DESTRUCTION
WELLINGTON, May 23.
Notice that the Department of Agr.culture had made arrangements 'with the Luemployment Board that all farmers making application for labour for the purpose of destroying noxious weeds were to be granted‘relief worker tree of cost, has been received in a circular letter by the Hutt ’ County Council.
“I'urge earntstly that in the interest not only of the individual farmer, but of the (onimunity in general, all 'Tamers should avail themselves of this arrangement, and by so doing adc pot only to the production value of their individual holdings, but also increase the morale of the relief worker by finding something useful to do,” the Minister, Hon C. E. Macmillan, stated.
Appreciation of the action of the department .was expressed at a meeting of the Hutt County Council yesterday afternoon, and it was decided to ask the Minister if the work could be extend to cover gorse. scrub and other rubbish, which was not included under the specification of “noxious weeds.’
