Tlio United States Senate to-night voted virtual embargoes against (,'auadadian lumber and copper. The duty mi Canadian lumber was raised from one dollar to three dollars per thousand board feet. A tariff of four cents per pound whs placed on copper. Hardwood (louring was exempted ■from the lumber duty.
These increases are provided lor in the Billion Dollar Bevoiuu* Bill, and unless they are removed when the Bill goes to a compromise between the House and the Semite, Canada stands to lose trade that was worth twentyright million dollars to her 1. st year.
