LONDON, May 23. Lord Inehcape caught a chill in November, attending the trials of the steamer Strathnaird. Later, he been mo seriously ill necessitating Lord Glenapp’s hurried return from India. His condition so improved that he was able to go for a daily drive. He was seized .with a sudden heart '’fattack, after luncheon,’ when enjoying the sunshine on deck and died ten minutes -later, before doctors cpuilid do anything'to'revive him. .His death shocked .his friends as he had apparently recovered. The. news of his death wa.s withheld for some hours until the Stock Exchange closed. The “Daily Mail” says his death is a heavy blow to British shipping, at a time when his counsel and influence was most needed. The “News Chronicle” describes him as one of the few remaining men who actually rule giant businesses, modern conditions making the emergence of such figures more and more difficult.
