MINISTERIAL VISIT

The Hon. O. E. MacMillan, Minister of Mines and Agriculture, arrived here to-day, and will take deputations at the County Chambers at 7.30 o’clock to-night. The Minister is being escorted through the district by Mr Jus. O’Brien, M.P. The principal deputations to-night willl be from the Westland County Council, and the Prospecting Association. The former will draw attention to pressing local matters and also to matters in connection with the Mining Regulations. The latter Apsooiatiotn will deal chiefly with prospecting, and the necessity for opening..up the back country by offering assistance for prospecting tracks to approved localities. The Hon. Minister proceeds to South We s tla.nd to-morrow , visiting Okarito and Waiho, and returns here on Friday to join the overland service for Invercargill where lie is due on Monday to represent the Government at the Southland Winter Show*.
