it was a case of a pupil showing the master last night, when Ted Oxley of Palliatua, 9.7.1, completely overshadowed his former mentor, Jack Crowley, of Wellington, 9.9, for the professional boxing of ten rounds. I here was a packed audience’. Oxley broke a, bone in the left hand at the start of the (second round and relied on his right which put Crowley down in the fourth, thereafter Crowley was ■sent to the canvas no fewer Ilian six times, until the ninth. Only gameness and fighting instinct, kept him on his feet. In reply to ' the referee’s query. Crowley at last fried enough .and eolr.tpsed in 11 : -t corner from exhaustion. Oxley’* technical K.O. in the ninth was an imuresisivo performance under the circuinst.iiii.ces.
