FATAL EXPLOSION
/ FIRE REACHES DETONATORS
INCENDIARISM IS SUSPECTED

SYDNEY, May 18
A fire- at Arinidale this morning reached a stock of explosives m Brauud and Company’s .'■tore. The resultant explosion wrecked the building, killed a fireman named Jones, and injured two others seriously, and several men slightly. The whole town
was shaken. Many windows were smashed in the nfiarb.v premises.
Regarding the Avmidale five, there are suspicious ru'cemstances as a motor ear without lights was seen leaving the scene before the discovery. Detective? are investigating.
The iron store, in which the explosion occurred, was detached from the main store premises, which were gutted by fire only three weeks ago, causing 1)20,000 damage.
The windows of every building nearby were smashed, and the dwellings were rocked. At least five thousand detonators exploded.

A second mail lias died as the result iC the explosion at Armidalo, and Sydney detectives have, left to investigate.
