ATTEMPTS TO COMMIT SUICIDE.

LONDON, May 17

A poignant tragedy lias occurred at a Hunuon JtiospiUu. Mrs Elizabeth Lloyd, aged bb, the wile of a South Wales miner, had suffered ivom a disfiguring facial disease, and, as a last resort, she was sent to Sir Harold Gillies, a noted surgeon, wiio worked for six months to restore her ieatures. He was surprisingly successful. When the bandages who removed, medical students flocked to the ward to admire the operation. When a- mnror was handed to Mrs Lloyd, she said: “What a surprise for my husband when he comes to.see me?”

On Whit Monday the husband duly arrived, and he stayed at the Hammersmith Hospital with his wi e for ten minutes, chatting continuously, alid giving news of their ten-year-old boy.
