Hon. Mr, Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture and Mines, will leave for the West Coewt district next Monday to investigate the coal and gold mining situation. He will VT.sit Greymouth, Hokitika, Okarito and Waiho, also going to Barrytown, near Greymouth, where lie will attend to the question of considerable local interest, namely, whether certain lauds may be used for grad mining, or whether they should be preserved for agricultural purposes. From the West Coast the Minister will go to Christchurch, and then to Dunedin, where he will opom the Otago Winter Show on May June 2.

VISIT TO WEST COAST. Making his first official visit to the West Coast, the Minister of Mines, Mr C. E. 'MacMillan, will arrive in Greymouth on Saturday afternoon. The Mayor at Greymouth has telegraphed to the. Minister, asking him to set aside Saturday evening, for the receiving of deputations from the Greymouth Chamber of Commerce, and other local bodies \ which desire to in* terview him during hig visit here. Mr J. O’Brien, .-vi.P., received advice that the Minister’ would spend about a week in the Westland elector- | ate.
