On the eve of Shis arrival at Southampton from Madeira, ;Earl Jellicoo
wrote a. letter to Sir Thom tv Wilfnrd, in which he said : “You will he pleased to hear that 1 played over twelve hot os of the eighteen on the course at Lisbon, and definitely did not feel tired. 1 hope soon to be meeting von again am! to be able to play tile whole- eighteen." Lord Jellieoe, it is understood, is not likely to find it necessary on account of health to resign his seat <ui the Board of the Bank of New Zealand, 'He has altogether modified the statement credited to have been made by him immediately on his return from Madeira. He has corrected the report that “to keep well will be a wholetime job." What he intended to sav, he .savs, wais that the presidency of the British Legion was a whole-time job, and would necessitate more worlj than he would now he able to devotjS to it. Hence his retirement -Iwin thav office.
