WEST COAST RUGBY UNION.

Tile weekly meeting of the above was held at Greymoutli last evening. The N.Z. Union advised that the following applications for reinstatement bad been granted on the Union’s recommendation: E. Clarke, 0. Orolt, H. Decker, ,S. McPlice, D. J. Wallace, R. Smith. J. J!. Warren and J. Richard-

The X.Z, Union advised that when submitting noniinatioiis for North and .South Island teams, it is intended that the best players availab.e should bo selected for the North v. South Island match on .June 4th., irrespective of whether they are able to go to Ausvtraha, or not. All the same the information whether players are available lor the Australian tour if selected, is required lor the guidance oi the selectors, when selecting the New Zealand team. It had also been brougnt to notice that some unions had given a ruling that players may leave the field at half time. In this connection, unions were reminded that at the annual general meeting of delegates', held in HIM, a resolution to adopt the Laws of the flame, a« laid own by the International Board was unanimously carried, and at the annual meeting this year the delegates re-affirmed that decision ; therefore, because it was a law of the game, the section of Law 10, which refers to players leaving the field at half time, must be observed. The practice of wearing pointed studs on football hoots was a most dangerous one and was contrary to Law 5 of the Laws of the Game. Unions were requested to ns!? their referees, to hold frequent inspections of players* hoots to ensure that the studs are not dangerous to other players, The President said that re the rule as to players leaving the field at halftime, the matter could be referred to the Referees’ Association. It was a referees’ job. It did not really affect . football here, but it .would be just as . well if club delegated advised their I clubs. i

Tbe Westland Sub-llnion wrote accepting the Union’s challenge for tlie Dittman Shield, at Hokitika on June 25th The latter decided that there was a big difference in weight and size of the Sub-Union’s juniors and that of the Union’s juniors and it was hardly t' ought fair that they should meet on dune 25th. The President said that most of tlie juniors had filled into the senior ranks, and members would clearly understand tlie position. The Lake Brunner oubUnion would more than likely play the

United junior representatives at Greyniouth on June 25th. The President moved that the seven-a-side tournament be held on June 3rd., nominations to close on May 31., for senior, junior, third grade, fourth grade, and schools, secondary and primary, according to weights.
