TRIBUNAL’S RECOMMENDATIONS
MANNING THE BOARD'S STAFF

CHRISTCHURCH, May 17
With the exception of the traffic department, which is to employ sixty new men, all other vacancies in the other Tramway departments are to be filled by Union men now on strike. This is the text of a recommendation made this morning by Mr A. T. Donnelly, chairman of the Tribunal, as the outcome of a further conference with the parties. Mr DonneHly said that it was further recommended that 55 of the new men should be employed within seven days, and the remaining five within fourteen days. After this selection any vacancies on the staff occurring within three months, .should be filled from members of five Union who were not selected in the first 90 taken on under the Tribunal’s finding. The. Union meets this afternoon to consider Mr Donnelly’s further statement. No date has yet been fixed for the .resumption of a full service..
