The Lindbergh baby’s body indicates the child has been dead for at -least several weeks. It had sustained a compound fracture of the skull, either through a blow from an instrument, or through being thrown from a speeding car.

Millions of people in the United States , received , a great emotional shock- when they heard by a radio broadcast, of the child’s fate.

A message from Trenton, New Jersey, state® that the. infant identified as tho Lindbergh baby died of a compound 1 fracture of the skull, according to the autopsy.

There wits a hole in the skull about the size of a “quarter” coin, ■uut' thebe was no sign of ally bullet or other missile. It wa» as if some adult person had held tho Lindbergh baby tightly and deliberately hammered its head with tho purpose of causing in? stunt death,

The report has confirmed that the decomposition of. the baby had progressed to a. point where it is surmised that the child was killed' almost immediately after it was kidnapped' and that the body had been undisturbed since it wais buried.

Betty Gow, the child’s nursemaid, has identified the l body as that of the kidnapped' child.
