,Underwriters are intrigued by tlie claim of £37,000 upon the life ,of the late iM. .Doumer. The policy wais token out eleveif montlvs ago; and had a month to run when he was assassinated. The premium bak been paid, being £7O, and' the policy belongs to a Dutchman. The relatives of M. Doumer in no way benefit. The policy was not marked “pa-oof of interest” so presumably it is a bona fide business precaution, but careful inquiries are being made a® other possibilities cannot be ruled out.
