EXTRAORDINARY ADVERTISEMENT.

PARIS, April 26

“Village for sale because of depopulation. Price, 500,000 francs” (nearly £4OOO at par). This extraordinary classified advertisement appeared in the newspaper “Le Matin.” The village offered is L’Aubepin, in'the heart of the Burgundy wine-producing region. It is more than 2000 years old and comprises 900 acres within its corporate limits. L’Aubepin now has 150 inhab. itants. The names of the village’s owners were not disclosed. The offer is an excellent testimonial to the post-war migration of farmhands and peasants to urban industrial centres.
